Moving and Shaking

Based on the last two posts from Harry and Kerry this reflects where things are.
Melissa & Kerry's books are done and "home."
Clare's book is with Harry and still needs an entry from Kerry.
Harry's book is with Kerry and needs entries from Clare and Melissa.

Clare do you you want your book sent home or to Kerry for it's final work? Also, do you want to do an entry in Harry's book before Kerry sends it to me, or are you finished?

At long last........

.......my follow on entry for "things that go round" with huge apologies for the delay in posting this.  It was really difficult to find something to link in with Harry's wonderfully inventive and humerous entry and the theme for the moly.  Sorry it took me so long.  Hope you like it Melissa.

Two Books

Received from Kerry today Melissa's book and my own. Both are looking really good and will certainly make me think about my follow-on contributions.

Melissa's Moly

When I received Melissa's Moly I was stumped with the
theme, 'things that go round'. I thought I would come up with
an idea as soon as I laid eyes on it. The book lay on my dresser
for a few days waiting for inspiration.
Then one morning I had story telling at work and told the children the story, 'The Wheels on the Bus'...
Of Course.... They go round & round!!
Here is my entry.

Finito

Hello all.
It occurred to me that I never posted my final entry in my book. I was following Clare's amazing birds if you recall. I have this little tradition where I draw a hand on the last page of my moly sketchbooks. Don't know why, but I did it in the first one and have continued over the past few years. So I added some patriotic paws to this book, too. It also seemed a nice compliment to the beginning. I want to shoot and post a video to share, I think you will find a really nice symmetry in the book and some cool coincidences from artist to artist. Thank you Alison, Tracy, Kerry, Jan and Clare for everything you put into my book. It's a treasure and I've enjoyed this crazy trip with each of you.

Melissa and my new vegie garden

It's spring here and I've joined the many who are new to growing their own vegies this year. I'm a little bit proud of the progress my darlings have made so far and we harvest daily our Asian greens and red lettuce which is a pick and go perennial. I hope you like the home grown touch to your book Melissa. Clare, it is already in the mail to you! Sorry again for the delay. And if I don't get to say so again beforehand, Happy Christmas!!!

Melissa's Moly, Alison's effort

Here we are at last. Some Ozzie views from my bike. I'd forgotten how these molys hate the watercolour. I'll whizz it down to the post now and hope you have time to do it before you head off to Gay Paris, Jan.

Melissa's moly....

....not quite sure where this one came from. Partly an obsession I have at the moment with drawing faces. Partly because I'd been looking at Marty Harris's sketchbook posts. Partly because Melissa's opening page featured a jigsaw, Clare's aboriginal dots, and Alison's a series of overlapping drawings so the idea of lots of little faces came to mind.

I hope you like it Melissa and that I haven't gone too far off base on this one.

Melissa's Moly, Alison's section

Here we are - using new scanning software. The pelican was inspired by some lines Jan carried over the fold - exactly fitting the wing of a pelican I drew from life during my Five K Radius jaunts last year. I have been attending a workshop on journalling and one of the artists we looked at was John Woseley who does work on many sheets of paper put together such as this one. On the paper, he draws map type markings, botanical specimen style drawings, many sorts of expressive messy marks. Sometimes he begins by burying the paper for some months. watercolour, gouache, pen and ink

Melissa's Moly - Jan's page

My addition to Melissa's Moly was chosen because of those watery little dots Clare left me. I began the pattern and wanted to keep the local flavour Clare had started so I chose to go beach.
In the original woodblock print by Hokusai. He included Mt Fuji in the background. In mine I've put South Solitary Island and it's lighthouse. The beautiful coast at Coffs Harbour is protected by the Solitary Islands Marine Park. From Coffs we look out over these islands. It is truly beautiful.
I'm not sure how long this limited colour phase I'm going through will last. But I'm really enjoying it and I pushed myself to add just a touch of colour to the island itself. The rest is silver, white and black. Oh, and a touch of blue pencil. I will post it off on Monday to Alison.

Ready to post round two.

**I am by no means an Aboriginal Artist**
But.................
I wanted Melissa's wee turtle to meet an Aussie relative.
So my Inspiration for this drawing comes from an "Original" painting
by Gerry Surha, a genuine Aboriginal artist from Atherton, Far North Queensland.
His paintings are SENSATIONAL.
Wee Turtle needed a parachute to land safely, I'm hoping you don't mind
the addition to your drawing Melissa?
Unfortunately my colours did not come up as bright in these photographs.
They are much nicer in reality.

PS: It is so soothing drawing all those dots, my eyes kept
getting tired and I actually fell asleep a couple of times.

Art Imitates Life

Melissa don't worry too much about mail service, customs will check any parcel they suspect. I have been wracking my brain to see what could possibly be of concern & the only thing I can think of is , perhaps your wood grain drawing was SO REALISTIC they could see wood through the x-ray machine and had to investigate it further. Says a lot for your drawing skills!!!

Empty Nest Syndrome

The first moly has left the nest.
