Moving and Shaking

Based on the last two posts from Harry and Kerry this reflects where things are.
Melissa & Kerry's books are done and "home."
Clare's book is with Harry and still needs an entry from Kerry.
Harry's book is with Kerry and needs entries from Clare and Melissa.

Clare do you you want your book sent home or to Kerry for it's final work? Also, do you want to do an entry in Harry's book before Kerry sends it to me, or are you finished?

Kerry's Colourful Characters

This is my last addition to Kerry's book. My colourful characters are Cézanne's three basic forms in nature - the sphere, the cone and the cylinder - and each is coloured with one of the three primary colours. Hope you approve, Kerry

It'll be in the post as soon as I can arrange it.

Kerry's book; My Entry

Kerry's book; My Entry by 3MW
Kerry's book; My Entry, a photo by 3MW on Flickr.
I had a difficult time deciding between a few ideas for your book Kerry. I considered the characters from the Wizard of Oz, A peacock and Elton John. Scanning the internet, I found an amazing video clip of Elton John dressed as a peacock performing "Crocodile Rock" with the Muppets and I was sold.

Media: Acrylic and sequins.

My Entry In Kerry's Moly

Well I'm done and should be mailing this one out to Melissa either today or tomorrow. It depends on when I can get out of my Jammies, I have been house-pj-bound with a virus.
And because I have been lying about...................I am half-way through Melissa's Moly too.
Shame one has to feel disgustingly ill to catch up on a passionate past time!!

Bad photography, though it was the best of fifteen shots! I should scan but I have the 'cantbebothereds'.
It does look better in person Kerry, True.

Kerry's Moly

(Markers and coloured pencils)

It took longer than I'd expected, but here's the finished colouring of the pencils I posted last time. I hope you like it, Kerry.

I'll be interested to see where Melissa takes it from here, but I won't post it to her until the beginning of December, right?

Getting Ahead of Myself

(2B mechanical pencil)

This is the layout for my addition to Kerry's Moly. But am I getting ahead of myself, when not everyone has posted their first contribution to Round 2? Keep me straight on the group's etiquette, guys. Are there set times for posting and mailing?

Clare in Kerry's Moly

Here is my last effort in Kerry's Moly.
It is a sketch of some of the beautiful coloured beach huts
that line the shore at Brighton Beach in Melbourne Victoria.
I am sorry Kerry for my lack of ability when it comes to trying
to get the perspectives correct.... I am still learning, :/

Jan's finished in Kerry's book - finally!!!

I was really daunted by following on from Alison's botanic garden pages in Kerry's book. In fact I put it right out of my mind - as I don't enjoy feeling daunted! Then the next Moly from Alison turned up this week! Eek! Must do it! I think I can!
I needed to visit my mum this morning and new I'd be there a while so I packed several art 'options' for things to do. As I looked at Kerry's gorgeous book again it came to me! *bing*! I would walk down to my favourite spot on my favourite beach and draw that!
There used to be a twisted stunted pandanus tree that grew on top of this rock. I drew it and it was actually the subject of my first painting after leaving school. It's been missing for about 10 years now and it made me sad not to see it there, so I didn't look at this beach much, in order to avoid feeling sad about it. (Gee, there are a lot of suppressed emotions surfacing here!) I think drawing it again has been fantastic. I got to enjoy 'my' beach and 'my' rock again. I don't feel sad anymore! When it's fully dry I'm going to put my little Valla-Beach-life-story on the back. Seeing as it IS 'my' rock, I feel it's necessary. (Pitt pens at the beach and watercolour when I got home.)

Kerry's Moly's getting big!

Coffs Harbour has two main tourist attractions. One is the Pet Porpoise Pool which is an excellent spot to kiss seals and pat dolphins and even have a swim with them. It is always a great day at the Pet Porpoise Pool. The other is The Big Banana.

There is a little artistic license in this sketch. I left out the gift shop, the snack bar and the History of Bananas building. From this perspective you can't see the lolly (sweets) factory, the puzzle shop, the toboggan ride, the snow slope, the ice rink or the water park, so it was easy to leave them out.

There is a fine tradition of Australian artists sketching and painting Luna Park in Melbourne. I love these works. They capture the essence of the conflict between fun, fear and sleaze in Luna Park and other attractions like it. When I look at them I wish I lived in Melbourne to be able to paint it too. Then I realised - we have the Big Banana right here! I could paint it. That idea was firmly implanted into my 'one day' basket right up until Clare drew Luna Park in Kerry's moly and posted it off to me to follow on. Too good an opportunity!

But it's not the same when it is a conflict of fun and sleaze only, without the fear. I'm left thinking 'it's just a big banana.'

Drrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrum Rolllllllllllllllllll Please..................

It's Arrived At Last! The Missing Moly has ARRIVED!
I am OH, SO PLEASED, Over the Moon In Fact, ECSTATIC you might say, and so very, very RelieveD! Kerrie, Melissa & all... you can now breathe a sigh of relief too. ;o)
Oh and did I mention that I picked it up at my P.O. ten minutes ago after spending all this morning working on the replacement Moly. I have my suspicions about what had happened to it. The post lady here was mixing everyone's mail up and had been for a long time now, turns out she couldn't read. Cut a long story short, after my extensive neighbourhood door knock at
the weekend I believe someone has returned the parcel to the PO, It had been opened and it was not by customs. They let you know if they open it. Someone got the guilts, I think...............Doesn't matter..............It's here, in one piece and it's Beautiful!
And just as well it is here as you can see from my photos I would have given Melissa
hardly any room to re-do her Glorious 'Seussical' piece.

PS: Mail lady got the sack & our new Postie starts tomorrow. I will be signing for my parcels just to be on the safe side.

Kerry's Moly

Melissa, I've outlined the rest of the US shape. I didn't know if you needed it, but if you did, it might be hard to find the right scale. It is in pencil, so you can erase it if you don't need it.

Oops...

...my moly is a little late in leaving the UK but should now be winging its way to the USA. Look out for the logo, Tracy

In the end I went for colour.....

...loads of colour

Hope it arrives safely!

Did it...but..

...still using props to get me going (note the rough sketch at the top) and now...to colour or not to colour that is the question. The drawing relates back to one of my first posts on this blog as well as the theme of my book
I think a little colour may be called for.

I've really struggled...

....with blank page terror these last two weeks and my solution was to draw "out of the page".
The letterbox idea gave some justification for this and once the page is stuck in the moly as the sign in page it will hopefully break the spell and I shall be able to face my fears!!! I just couldn't bring myself to draw straight into the moly. Something to do with it being a shared book I suppose ...which is a lot of responsibility.

The theme I have plumped for is "all around the world and back" which is of course what my book will be doing, and I have an idea for the first drawing......so I'm off to do it before my courage runs out!
